About

Hello! I'm Ethan, and I'm a game designer.

I currently work for UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in the Center for Innovation in Pharmacy Simulation as a Simulation-Game Designer. Most of my day to day work involves nXhuman, a virtual patient game for pharmacy students.

Before this, I was a simulation fellow within the Department of Veteran Affairs, where I designed and developed serious games and VR projects for the government. Prior to that, I taught game development and digital storytelling undergraduate courses at Drexel University, which is where I also graduated with my Masters in Digital Media. I earned my Bachelors in Media Arts and Studies, with a minor in Drawing, from Wayne State University.

Outside of work I try to stay as active as possible; I’m one of those weirdos who loves exercising. My main hobby these days is improv comedy – I’ve been taking classes and performing for about a year now, and I’m on two teams: Moldy Closets and Marlon Randos.

Like many millennials, I’m also an avid table top gamer. Video games could learn a thing or two from the socialization required for a good board game night.

I’ve also spoken at the East Coast Games Conference in 2018, gave three webinars on gamification and game based learning for the Department of Veterans Affairs, and was published in-proceedings of Chi Play 2015 and 2016 for my work on Remembrance and Echo Chamber.

Sadly, the pup in the photo is not mine.
